It has a very beautiful and unique reddish orange coloration. Also, the color can darken.
With its striking, zebra-like contrasts, and bold figuring, Bocote can be a very eye-catching wood. Has a yellowish brown body with dramatic dark brown to almost black stripes. Color tends to darken with age. Also, the grain patterning can be quite striking.
This wood ranges from a pinkish red to a darker reddish brown with darker purple or black streaks.
Cherry (not shown)
This wood develops a rich reddish-brown patina as it ages. This aging process can be accelerated by exposing the wood (in a judicious manner) to direct sunlight.
It has conspicuous flecking that gives this wood its namesake. The wood itself is a medium to dark reddish brown with grey or light brown rays, which therefore resemble the spots of a leopard.
Panga panga is a very dark brown with black streaks.
When freshly cut the heartwood of Purpleheart is a dull grayish/purplish brown. Upon exposure the wood becomes a deeper eggplant purple. With further age and exposure to UV light, the wood becomes a dark brown with a hint of purple. It also has excellent strength properties.
Walnut can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Color can sometimes have a grey, purple, or reddish cast. Walnut has good dimensional stability, shock resistance, and strength properties.
Yellowhearts color ranges from pale to golden yellow, darkening only slightly with age.
Zebrawood is a light brown or cream color with dark blackish brown streaks vaguely resembling a zebra’s stripes. Sometimes called Zebrano, the wood is strong and stiff, with a fairly high density.

Combs are finished with Mineral Oil and Beeswax Finish.
All beeswax is sourced from local Beekeepers.
Comb measure 5.5″ wide by 2.5″ tall and .25″ thick. (Thickness may vary)
Every comb is made by hand on a per purchase basis. Therefore there will be a couple days lead time before shipped. In fact, no two combs are alike.
